Oral presentations are organized in\u00a0five parallel tracks, for a total of 38 sessions and 7 workshops. Workshops are primarily addressed to experts and seeded by a selected number of introductory lectures delivered in order to open discussion between participants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Topics addressed within the symposium are related to biomass and waste characterisation as a potential energy source,\u00a0renewable fuel; biological waste to energy; refuse-derived fuel\/solid recovered fuel (rdf\/srf); thermal treatment (combustion, pyrolysis, gasification and others); residues from waste-to-energy; economic aspects as well as\u00a0\u00a0decision tools and policies &amp; legal aspects; climate change and sink; ecotoxicological aspects and health issues; public acceptance; experiences and new developments; developing countries; thermochemical processes; mass and energy balances; process modelling and\u00a0fuel upgrading.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">During the Symposium an exhibition will be held in the congress centre where organizations, companies and institutions operating in the fields reported below, among others, may advertize new concepts and technologies:\u00a0Combustion, anaerobic digestion, biomass to energy, alternative thermal treatments, strategies and policies, biofuels\u00a0 and other WtE options.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Symposium is structured in oral sessions, a poster session\u00a0and technical tours: the latter will be held on the 18th of September.
