Irish EU Council presidency expects no deal on ILUC before 2014

In this interview by European Affairs journalist Peter O’Donnell broadcasted by viEUws the EU policy broadcaster,Tom Hanney, Irish Ambassador to the EU, said in the Environment Council there are very divergent views concerning ILUC, especially regarding the level at which Europe will oblige suppliers of fuel to include biofuels in the fuel mix.

The Irish presidency says this is a very difficult and complicated file and that it might go on until the Greek presidency, which begins on the 1st of January 2014.

 “Because it is so controversial and the positions are so divergent we don’t expect to conclude a deal on this file [ILUC ] during the Irish presidency.”
